Sorry to learn of Rick's passing. I remember him quite well and traveled some of the same ground.  In the middle nineties I ran into him at a training seminar in Richmond. We had an interesting conversation and talked about the good old days in New Market. My condolences to his family. Semper Fi, Marine.

I’m blessed to call Rick my mentor, leader and friend.  I was a member of his tactical team and respected his steady demeanor. I’m glad I got to spend several years under his guidance.  Well Done Sir!

Rick and I worked together for many years with the Virginia State Police and I valued his friendship.  Rick was a good person, a solid leader and mentor.￼ You will be missed, my friend! My thoughts and prayers are with Rick and his family!

Rick and I went to school together.  Rick has always been Rick, no change, same in high school as in State Police.   I lost track of Rick after he got out of the Marines.  Years lately I found out he was in the State Police and was in the Williamsburg area.  We got together several times and visited.  Still the same Rick.  He was a good man and will be missed by his family and his many, many friends

I had the privilege and honor to have Rick as my Fifth Division Tactical Team Leader. He was a remarkable teacher, leader, and friend that we will all miss. Rick and his family will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Rick was the finest example of a true Virginia gentleman I have ever known. Worked with and for Rick on the tactical team, the division II firearms range and as a sergeant in area 13 Winchester. Rick had the unique ability to be a supervisor you both trusted and respected but was always your friend first. We hunted together for at least 25 years. Rest in peace my good friend. 

Hurts my heart to hear of Ricks passing. He was a good man who was admired by all who met him. I thoroughly enjoyed working next to him in several swat incidents. We could always depend on his knowledge and wisdom it quite difficult situations. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time.  See you soon my friend.

RICK WILL BE GREATLY MISSED!   A  LEADER, TEACHER OF TACTICS, BUT MOST OF ALL ... A GOOD FRIEND.  EVEN WITH MANY MILES BETWEEN US MOST TRIPS BACK TO VIRGINIA INCLUDED A VISIT WITH RICK.  MAY YOU HAVE A WELL DESERVED REST.

Rick left an indelible mark on the formation and early history of the Tactical Teams. He was a dynamic leader, an earnest teacher  and a valued brother.  I was blessed to have worked with and learned from him.  My sincere condolences to his family and former VSP brothers and sisters.

Rick and I shared many miles and memories, during the time he was 5th Division's Tact Team Leader and I was a team member of 2nd Divisions, later becoming  2nd Divisions Tact Team Leader. He shared his experience's and guidance freely to new and younger members. He was a true gentlemen.  I wish God's Blessings on his family.

I had the honor of having Rick as my supervisor as a young Trooper, both on patrol and on the Tactical Team. Rick was full of life and adventure and pushed himself and his teams, both in Second Division in the Valley and in the Fifth Division, Tiderwater area, teaching them to excell and execute team skills and tactics. All this done in a great teaching environment with Rick never asking one of his men to do something he couldn't do first. I have nothing but fond memories of the years we both worked and hunted together. Both of our families go back to the 1700's of New Market, and Rick was a true Virginia Gentleman and a credit to the Commonwealth. Rest in Peace Rick, they don't make em like you too often. Prayers for his family and friends.

Rick and I were high school classmates and teammates at Stonewall Jackson High School.  He was a great guy.  I want to express my deepest condolences to the family.

Very sorry to hear of Rick's passing.  Worked for him until he got promoted to Williamsburg.  He was a very  fair supervisor and good friend.  Saw him last 3 years ago and could see that he was having difficulty remembering the guys from Area 13.  Condolences to the family and God Bless them and him.

It was my honor and pleasure to have worked for years with Rick at Camp Peary. One could not find a better friend and  individual. My condolences to all the family. Semper Fi and Rest In peace my friend.  Jeff N.

So sorry to hear of Ricks passing. I worked many years under Rick when he was  at Area 13.  Had on occasion to shoot, hunt , and enjoy some great times at area picnics. 
What a great guy. He will be missed!

Rick was a hard charger, a valued member of the department and a good friend and mentor to his brothers and sisters in blue & gray.   My condolences to Earleen , Amy, Jay and the family.

It was always great pulling up to the Capitol Pancake House and seeing that Rick was there for  breakfast or lunch. He was such a gentle soul.  Rest in Peace my friend. 

My husband and I were so happy to see Rick at the basketball “reunion” that my husband planned at our farmhouse several years ago.
