He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marjorie O’Roark; in-laws John and Evelyn Foster; and son Howard Talley Cook, Jr.
Rick proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He retired as a First Sergeant with the Virginia State Police with 37 years of service. He loved reading, hunting, shooting and being outside. He was a great husband, father and the best Pawpaw.
He is survived by his wife, Earleen of 32 years; daughter, Amy Driscoll (Kenny); son, James “Jay”Cook (Julia); and grandchildren, Courtney Thompson (Mike), Tiffany King, Richard “Bodie” Driscoll, Jadyn Cook, Kalia Cook; great-grandson, Wyatt Thompson; sister, Marsha Watson; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 from 5:30-7:30p.m. The service will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following the service. The visitation and service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road Williamsburg, VA 23188. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rick’s name may be made to the National Museum of the Marine Corps, 18900 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Triangle, VA 22172 (www.usmcmuesum.com) in Quantico, VA are appreciated.
