Patty was born in Derby, Connecticut in 1946 to Edward John Coffey, Jr. and Alberta Roof Coffey. She spent her youth growing up in Columbia, South Carolina and received a BA in Education from the University of South Carolina. While there she met Wade Swink, the love of her life. They married in April of 1971.
For many years Patty was a dedicated elementary teacher and reading specialist in the Newport News, VA school system. Her passion for learning, teaching and her students never left her. She was always a teacher, even in retirement, tutoring children was just what she loved.
Patty was funny, creative and artistic. She passed her deep passion for the Arts onto to her son Wil. She loved being his Mom, her spirit and creative drive will live on through his compassion and beautiful art.
She and Wade had a passion for travel, especially in their RV. Their trips were legendary, often months long, and always fraught with adventure. Patty never met a stranger. She reveled in making conversation with fellow campers who often became lifelong friends.
Patty will be lovingly remembered by her son, Wil and his wife Antonia; her two sisters, Mikie (Rick Folio) and Chrissy (Ray Wersching); nephews, Kolby, Kramer, and Tyler Runager, Rhiney Wersching; and niece, Sydney Wersching.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wade Swink.
A Celebration of her Life well lived will be held March 4, 2023 from 11am-1pm at The Winery in Williamsburg, VA.
