Nan Maxwell went to her eternal home on November 17, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born in Newport News Va in 1934 to Leona and Robert Flaxington. After raising her 4 children in Hampton, Va she married the love of her life, Ralph Maxwell, where they resided in Williamsburg, Va. Together with Ralph they traveled across the country visiting many state and national parks, along with trips to Disney World. Nan will be remembered for her love of art and photography. She was very creative in all things she did including artwork on walls and a master at puzzling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Nan's legacy of compassion and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her four children, Peter Brown (Susan) of Yorktown Va; Sarah Brown (Phil) of Yorktown Va; Paul Brown (Mary) of Williamsburg Va; David Brown (Jenny) of Williamsburg, Va; David Maxwell (Sally) of Poquoson Va. She is also survived by three siblings, Judy Phillips; John Flaxington; Ned Flaxington, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.
In respecting Nan’s final wishes there will be no services or family gathering as she never wanted to be the center of attention. In lieu of flowers, Nan request donations to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (https://secure.qgiv.com/for/pulfibfou/). The family would like to thank the staff at Spring Arbor and At Home Hospice for their care and attention to Nan during her final days.
