Born in 1952 to the late Edward and Eleanor Buckley in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Mark lived there until he graduated from Michigan State University in 1976. It was that same year he married his wife, Peggy, and they began their lives in Ohio and Florida before settling in Williamsburg, VA in 1984.
After learning the art of woodworking from his father, Mark developed a passion for construction. He worked hard to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in the industry before taking a leap of faith to begin his own successful business building custom homes. With a smile and kind word for everyone he met, his family is most proud of him for his honest, dedicated, and loyal reputation he developed throughout the community. He will be remembered as a pillar of strength and perseverance.
Besides his family, some of his greatest joys in life were fishing, golf (with the awesome accomplishment of a hole-in-one on the Woods Course in Kingsmill), and time spent on his beloved boat, "Fastidiots". He loved to be surrounded by classic rock and to share (mostly true) stories that would fill a room with laughter and joy.
Mark is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy; son, Jason (Amanda); daughter, Gwendolyn (Eric Jackel); grandsons, Graves and Jones Buckley; brother, Don (Pat) Buckley; sisters, Marilyn Buckley and Lee (Jim) Tisso; sister-in-law, Patricia (Gary -deceased) Kwiatkowski; brothers-in-law, David Kwiatkowski and Donald (Shelly) Kwiatkowski; along with many adored nieces and nephews and their children.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date with family and friends. In lieu of sending flowers to the family, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in Mark's honor.
