She was preceded in death by her father, Weston H. Morefield, and mother, Virginia M. Morefield.
Marilyn received her BA from St. Louis University and completed graduate work at The College of William & Mary. She went on to work at Norge Elementary as a teacher. Through the decades, her students continued to let her know how her positive impact endured.
With a love for history and art, Marilyn became an entrepreneur, owning her own woodworking business making colonial-era crafts. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling, antiquing and furniture refinishing, needlepoint and cross stitch, seeing live music and theater, tracing family ancestry, and playing with her grandchildren. Marilyn also took part in the Mammoth excavation with archaeologist Jerry Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Roither; sons, Jeremy Roither (Alan Konlande) and Nathan Roither; daughters, Amy Roither-Quintero (Rick Quintero) and Kerry Roither; grandchildren Cameron Guthridge and Aidan Guthridge; brother, William Morefield; and sister-in-law, Liz Morefield.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia. A mass will be celebrated in Marilyn’s honor on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Virginia. Interment to follow the service in the St. Bede Catholic Church Columbarium.
