Judy was born and raised in Williamsburg. She dearly loved her birthplace and was a Patriot.
In 1989, Judy returned to Williamsburg and worked as a Colonial Williamsburg Hostess at the Tarpley Store. She then served as the Deputy to the Commissioner of the Revenue, and retired as the Commissioner of the Revenue for the City of Williamsburg in 2017.
She was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church.
A loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, Judy is survived by her sons, John Massie Fuqua III, (daughter-in-law Nicole Fuqua) and Anthony Matthew Fuqua (daughter-in-law Jill Fuqua); her grandchildren, Kayla Marie Fuqua, Ashley Nicole Fuqua, Autumn Marie Fuqua and Lorelei Belle Fuqua; her brother, James Harold Nightengale (sister-in-law Jody Nightengale); and her sister, Mary Nightengale Cameron. Her family was very large and she had many devoted friends. She will be dearly missed, forever loved, and forever in the hearts of all.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 2 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, where the funeral service will also be held on Tuesday, May 3, at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
