

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas MacArthur Morning, a beloved father, skilled carpenter, and accomplished high school football player, who left us on 3/24/25 at the age of 82.
Born in Williamsburg, Va on 5/3/1942, Douglas was known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his passion for his work. A talented carpenter, he spent his life building not only homes but also lasting relationships within his community. His craftsmanship was second to none, and he took immense pride in his ability to create something with his hands.
As a young man, Douglas was a star athlete. He was a standout football player in high school, known for his strength, determination, and leadership on the field. His competitive spirit and love for the game earned him the respect of his teammates and coaches, leaving a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him. Douglas turned down a college scholarship to marry and start a family.
Above all, Douglas was a dedicated husband and father. He was fiercely protective, loving, and supportive, always prioritizing the well-being of his family. His advice, wisdom, and warmth will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the lessons he imparted and the love he shared. Douglas always said "don't worry about me I am going to be alright" he lived life his way and always had a helping hand for those in need and a smile on his face. Douglas was also a devoted member of the church, a Deacon at CBC Ministries and trustee, he spent most of his time in his later years as an integral member of the church.
Douglas is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Morning, and his siblings, Simon Morning Jr., Emma Ashby, and Mary Wallace. He is survived by his children, Douglas Lamont Morning Jr., Barbara Elaine Morning, Ryan Christopher Morning, and MacArthur Douglas Morning; his grandchildren, Jennifer Williams (husband, Ryan Williams), Ryan C. Morning Jr., Sterling Johnson Sr., Angenia Morning and several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on 4/8/25 at 11:30AM, with a wake the night before on 4/7/25 from 6:30PM to 7:30PM both at CBC Ministries, 2900 Chickahominy Rd., Toano.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CBC Ministries, 2900 Chickahominy Rd., Toano, VA 23168, in honor of Douglas Morning’s memory. May he rest in peace.
