Donald James Levi Hellier, 93, passed away on August 8, 2023, at Edgeworth Park Assisted Living facility. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Frances J. Hellier; and his son, E. Kevin Hellier.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid whitewater canoeist, where he befriended people he met along the river, leading to friendships lasting through the years. Don was like a second father to Paul Baxter and Norman Swiger, whom he loved as sons. His passions included genealogy and playing Pinochle with family and friends whenever possible, even on an overturned canoe along a stream.
He is survived by his son Benjamin R. Hellier (Cathy); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Hellier Dever; as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.
The family wishes to thank Annie, his caregiver of many years, along with the wonderful caregivers and staff at Edgeworth Park of Williamsburg.
