She was born in Batavia, NY on March 29, 1955. Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Moriarty; daughter, Erin Moriarty; father, Paul Diver; and mother, Dorthy Diver.
Her desire to help people was at the core of who Debbie was. She graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Bachelors in Nursing and was a nurse for over 40 years, primarily supporting the Williamsburg, Virginia senior community. She started as a home health care nurse for Williamsburg Community Hospital-Sentara and then worked on the SHARP program for Peninsula Agency on Aging doing nursing home visits. She later worked at Patriots Colony doing podiatry work for senior residents and supported their COVID-19 care efforts.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Debbie. She loved taking day road trips with her family to visit historical sites, her daily walks and talks with neighbors, calling up friends and family to say hi and see how they were, and crocheting for the nonprofit From the Heart Stitchers. Above all else she loved her family immensely, including her grandpups Maverick and Fiona.
Debbie had a strong faith and knew when her time was up in this world she would be reunited with her family, including her husband, youngest daughter, parents and other family and friends who passed before.
She is survived by her daughter Katie Moriarty; siblings, Gary (Yvonne), Sandra (David), Randy, Allan, Evan; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg, VA on January 11th from 11-1pm.
