Barbara Janyce Wallace

Barbara Janyce Wallace, age 83, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024. She was born July 22, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana to father, John Bevan and mother, Eloise Allee who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brother, John Bevan. After graduating high school and attending college courses, Barbara worked as a horticulturist for the College of William and Mary. She had a passion for beautiful orchids and raised many of her own, which led her to become the former president of the Tidewater Orchid Society and the Peninsula Orchid Society. A member of the Lutheran faith, Barbara volunteered and was a dedicated homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt, and paint. Music, dancing, cooking, and watching Jeopardy were also some of her favorite pastimes. Barbara loved animals, and especially enjoyed bird watching. Spending time with her family and friends brought her so much joy, and there was never a stranger she wouldn’t talk to! Barbara is survived by her husband, William E. Wallace; son, William J. Wallace; daughter, Gail Sawyer (Jesse); grandchild, Joshua A. Sawyer (Kelley D. Gaines); great-grandchildren, Alyssa R. Sawyer and Amelia R. Sawyer; and beloved pets, Chase and Snuggles. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Barbara’s memory to Alzheimer’s research.
