Greg was born in Chicago, IL on April 17, 1948 as the only child of Raymond and Genevieve Kula. Greg spent most of his life in the Chicago area and was a true Chicago sports fan. He was a ticket holder for the Cubs, the Bears, and the Blackhawks and always enjoyed taking in a game when he had time. His dream was to get back home to Chicago.
Greg attended St. Patrick High School and received his bachelor degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1970.
Greg was well known for his almost 50 years in the Corrugated box industry. After beginning his career elsewhere, he became a salesman at Forest Packaging Corporation in 1980. In 1991 he purchased Forest Packaging, which is currently located in Elk Grove Village, IL. His family fondly remembers his love of humor in the office and his blue coffee cup always being misplaced.
He was an avid boater, and his most recent hobby was driving his motor home with hopes to someday travel across the country. On any given evening you could be sure he was enjoying an old sci fi or horror movie from the comfort of his recliner. He will be missed by his two beloved pups. One of them named Berwyn after one of his favorite late-night programs, SvenGoolie.
Greg is survived by his wife, Paula (McQuown) Kula of FL; his sons John Kula (Mandi) of Crystal Lake, IL and Jeffrey Kula (Karyn) of Wood Dale, IL; his step daughter Patricia Lintern and her daughter Lanah of Poplar Grove, IL; and granddaughter Kirsi.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond & Genevieve Kula and his first wife Kirsi (Laaksonen) Kula (mother of sons John and Jeff).
Greg will finally get back home to Chicago as his final resting place. Skaja Funeral home in Niles, IL will be assisting with arrangements in Chicago. A celebration of life for his friends and family in Florida will be held at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be directed to South Florida SPCA: https://spca-sofla.org/donations/tribute-giving
