Wesley S. Jones Sr.

Wesley Sidney Jones Sr. was born on December the 18th 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to Julius and Vivian Jones. As a young man he attended Horseman and North High school, where he met his wife Charlotte. They fell in love and were married shortly after, on December 3rd 1955. To their union they added five wonderful children.

Wesley served in the United States Military from 1957 to 1963. However, after studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses and learning the truth he found that Jehovah’s word was his family’s only salvation. He and Charlotte were baptized at the Minnesota convention in 1966 and began a lifetime journey dedicated to serving Jehovah together. As an elder he enjoyed his time in the ministry and spending time with his brothers and sisters at the meetings.

For many years he worked at a grain elevator. He was let go for choosing to attend a convention with his family. Nonetheless Wesley continued to put Jehovah God first and soon began working at Excel Meat Packing Company. He was promoted over the years and was able to retire from the company as a CDL truck driver. He drove locally for many years to ensure that he would be home every evening to lead his family spiritually.

Possessing a kind heart and playful spirit, Wesley always gravitated towards the youth of the congregation, as well as the children at his daughter’s daycare center. “Grandpa” as most of the kids came to know him by, would regularly play and amuse them with his corky nature and jokes.

Wesley is preceded in death by his parents Julius Johnny Jones and Vivian Jones. His brothers; Lester Mack, Willie Clinton Jones, Gaylord Jones, Julius Johnny Jones, Jr., and David Wayne Jones. His sister Berta Lee and his beloved wife Charlotte Rose Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory his two brothers Lenzie Jones, and Curtis Jones. His three sisters; Rosetta Jones, Velvalean Maxwell, and Virginia Peele. He is also survived by his favorite son Wesley Sidney Jones Jr. and his four favorite daughters Evelyn Joyce (Steven) Murphy, Elaine (David) Pelham, Vicky Massey, and Margo Jones. He also leaves his love with 14 Grandchildren, 27 Great-grandchildren, and 11 Great-great-grandchildren. In conjunction he leaves deep fond sentiments for numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, family members, and close friends.

A Memorial Service for Wesley will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 6007 E. 29th Street North, Wichita, KS 67220. Please have any flowers delivered to the Kingdom Hall for the service.
