Wayne Harris

Wayne Eugene Harris (88) was born on March 8, 1929. Parents Ralph W. and Nellie J. Harris. He grew up in Wichita and graduated from East High School. He served in the army during the Korean War and guarded Korean prisoners in Japan. Wayne worked for the Coleman Company and retired from a long career at Domestic Laundry. Wayne married Ada M. Lambert on April 10, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. They were very active in church activities at Grace Lutheran Church, bowled in several leagues in Wichita, and later in life enjoyed retirement together until her death in 2006. Wayne was a resident at Homestead of Crestview Assisted Living during this past year and was known for his wheel chair roaming the halls and his love of chocolate. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ada, and infant grandson, George Wayne Webb. He is survived by his daughter, Janie (Robert) Webb, Tucson, AZ and step daughter Jean Wellner, Wichita, KS. Grandchildren Robert (Jennifer) Webb Jr. Tucson, AZ and Bethany (Sean) Burritt of Denver, CO. Step-grandsons: Jeff Wellner, Wichita, Ken (Windy) Wellner and Michael Wellner of Andover, KS. Great-grandchildren: Jazmin, Robyn, and Emiley Webb, Shoseana and Jacob Burritt. Step great-grandchildren: Jacob and Zachary (Chandler)Wellner. Kelsey and Keaton Wellner. Step great-great grandchildren: Andi Matthews and Easton Wellner. Wayne entered eternal life with His Savior on July 21, 2017. Service will be held on Thursday, July 27 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Wichita Park Cemetery. A memorial may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, 405 W 21st St, Andover, KS 67002.
