Vincent F. Adolfson, of Ellis, Kansas, age 95, passed away on Tuesday June 25, 2024, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. He was born on November 22, 1928, to John and Emma (Melin) Adolfson in Lancaster, Minnesota.
Following high school, Vince joined the Army on August 21, 1948. After basic training he was stationed at Randoph Field in San Antonio, Texas. In 1949 he transferred from the Army to the Air Force where he went to teletype school in Cheyenne, Wyoming, from there he was transferred to Wichita Air Force Base where he was discharged in 1952. He worked for Cudahy Foods in Wichita for 24 years. He then worked for Hudson Foods for 14 years.
He moved to Ellis, KS in 1998. Vince was a member of the Ellis United Methodist Church where he assisted with the monthly newsletter and enjoyed many activities. He was also known as the “Dog Whisperer” as many residents would ask him to take care of their dogs if they went out of town. His biggest joy was to join his friends at Spruce Villa for coffee time where he would supply the group with many jokes.
He married Barbra Clark in 1952 and they divorced. In 1967, he married Hester M. Hall.
He is survived by his son, Garrison Clarke (Sebastian Patti) Chicago, IL.; daughter, Karen Day (Joseph) Ellis, KS; grandson, Chris Smith (Connie) Ellis, KS; granddaughter, Brandie Rush (Todd) Wichita, KS; great-grandson, Brandon Rush (Leslie); sister, Betty Peterson (Donald), Newfolden, MN; step-sons, Lon Smith, Hensely, AR and James LeBegue, Wichita, KS; step-grandsons, Mark Pierson (Tracy) Springfield, MO, Steven Pierson, Wichita, KS, and AJ Smith, AR; step-granddaughters, Jonah Pierson, FL, Devanie Redd, Hensely, AR, and Lonna Smith; and many, step- great-grandchildren.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hester; brothers, Carl Adolfson and Wallace Adolfson; sister, Evelyn Peterson; step-son, Charles Smith; and step-daughter, Debra Ferrel.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held on July 6, 2024, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. and services beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Ellis United Methodist Church, 1201 Washington, Ellis, Kansas. A private interment was held at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later designation.
