“I love to see the towns passin' by
And to ride these rails 'neath God's blue sky
Let me travel this land from the mountains to the sea
'Cause that's the life I believe He meant for me
And when I'm gone and at my grave you stand
Just say God's called home your ramblin' man.”
-Ramblin’ Man, Hank Williams & Hank Williams Jr.
Thomas loved to ride the open road of life with a spirit of adventure and a compassionate heart. He was a friend to everyone. He was humble, and he suffered no fools. He enjoyed the simple things in life: good food, good music, and good conversation, with occasional delicacies, like a nice glazed duck of all things. Being born into a musical family, songwriting and instrument mastery were in his blood. The depth of his soul could be experienced in the songs he composed. Thomas had the gift of a quick wit and he could relate to anybody he talked to. He also inherited a knack for fixing things. He loved to spend time working on his motorcycles, cars, and was a professional mechanic on heavy duty equipment. As a child, he could dive into an ice cold creek, and the cold temperature never seemed to prevent him from enjoying the moment. This memory beautifully captures the essence of who he was throughout his life. The tragic loss of this precious life is one that is felt from coast to coast. Thomas is deeply loved and will forever be missed. His spirit will be felt on every back road drive, around every firepit, and in the songs of Hank Williams and Hank Williams Jr.
