On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, we lost a beautiful soul in Shirley Kay (Griggs) Weaver, 79, of Wichita, Kansas. She was a loyal daughter and sister, loving wife and mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother.
Born in Steele, Missouri, August 10, 1945, she was the daughter of Lawton and Tina Griggs, and older sister of Gary, Sharlene, Kenny, Earlene and Danny. The family settled in Wichita where Shirley graduated from South High School in 1963.
She met and married Jack Weaver and started a family that included three sons: Joel, Toby and Jamie. She was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, a longtime fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and many college teams. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, doing crossword puzzles and watching old movies.
Shirley's journey was filled with the love of family, friends and memories created to continue sharing. Those left to honor her memory are children Joel (Ashley) Weaver, Toby Weaver and Jamie (Cindy) Weaver; grandchildren Devin (Caryn) Hammann, Jess (Hanna Hoffman) Weaver, Levi (Stefanie) Weaver, Bailey Weaver, Sydney Weaver, Aidan Weaver, Tristan Weaver, Jacob Wheeler, Jordan Wheeler, Katy Richardson, Kylie Pozehl, Peyton Pozehl, Colton Bass, Abbie Bass and Lucas Bass; siblings Sharlene Smith, Kenny Griggs, Earlene Ellis and Danny Griggs; great-grandchildren Kennady Hammann, Jaxon Hamman, Eleanor Weaver, Everett Weaver and Jasper Weaver; and nieces and nephews Kip Smith II, Kendirley Smith, Gary Griggs II, Larry Griggs, Katie Partida, Jennifer Shumaker, Cheryl Jenkins, Bradley Weaver, Jesse Weaver, Daniel Weaver, Terry Lewis, Glenn Farley and Steven Farley.
