Ferril, Paul R., 93, retired Beech employee went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Paul was born May 14, 1919 in Amorita, OK, to Jesse Harry and Grace Shuler Ferril. He grew up on the family farm around Amorita. After graduating high school, he enrolled at Oklahoma A & M (currently Oklahoma State University). In 1941, he moved to Wichita, KS where he was employed at Beech Aircraft. On September 30, 1942, he enlisted in the Navy, and was stationed at Pearl Harbor for the duration of the war. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in January, 1946, and once again went back to work at Beech. Just after returning home from the war, he met and married Martella Brown. To this union were born two children, Paula Ferril (Foy) and Roger Ferril. In 1969, he met and married Annalee Wells. After her death, he married Betty Hobbs on March 26, 1982. After 43 years of employment with Beech Air Craft he retired with never using one day of sick leave. Paul related his memories of going to the Church of God in Amorita in the early 30’s. The church had revivals and at one of these, he went to the altar and accepted Christ. Later he was baptized in a creek nearby. When he moved to Wichita, he found the First Church of God at Lincoln and Market and became active in the building programs under the leadership of Pastor Kardatzke. In 1955, he was involved in helping with the process of building a new sanctuary and educational building. For many years, Paul served as a church usher as well as Treasurer for the church. He began teaching Sunday School classes when a need arose for establishing a class for single adults. He taught classes for 50 years and was teaching elderly adults in the Comrades Class when he had heart by-pass surgery in 2008, which required him to give up this passion. Paul will be remembered as a most compassionate and giving person. He was a dedicated blood donor, giving one pint short of his lifetime goal of 30 gallons. And he was never idle. Paul was constantly involved in helping others in some way. He delivered Meals on Wheels until he was in his mid-80’s, he mowed lawns for the elderly, he donated many hours to community services. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Harry Ferril and Grace Ferril Atkison, siblings, Dale Ferril and Gayle Allison, step-sisters, Ruth Neathery and, Joye Durant, and also a step-son Larry Metz and grandchildren Christopher Metz and Brooke Cowley. He leaves to mourn his wife, Betty Ferril, his sibling Jessie (Joe) Fulgham and step-sister, Reba Angle.
