Michael "Mike" Iven Ludlam, 73, of Derby, Kansas, passed away on December 20, 2023. He was born in Warrensburg, Missouri on February 11, 1950, to parents Iven Anderson and Frances Louise (Zacha) Ludlam.
Michael graduated high school from Wichita South in 1968. He married Marlies Petzel on November 6, 1971, and they celebrated 52 loving years together.
Michael joined the Army in 1969 and has earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, Aircraft Crewman Badge, and Expert (M-16 Riffle) Badge. He had an honorable retirement from the Army after serving 24 and a half years then worked at the Post office as a mail carrier and supervisor for 18 years. Michael loved fishing, collecting and shooting guns, playing bingo and most of all spending time with his grandkids.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Ann Ludlam, infant sister Mary Louise Ludlam, daughter-in-law Stacy M. Ludlam, Father and Mother-in-law Karlheinz and Gerda Petzel, and brother-in-law Karl Petzel. He is survived by his loving wife Marlies, son Derek Ludlam, daughter Anna (Devin) Bakley, sister Vickie (Jerry) Snyder, and grandchildren Kathryn Ludlam, Michael Ludlam, Bryce Bakley, and Brooklynn Bakley.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 am- 11:00 am with Funeral Service at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary Chapel located at 201 S. Hydraulic Ave, Wichita, Kansas, 67211. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery located at 1640 N. Maize Rd, Wichita, KS, 67212.
