Mary F. Souders

Mary Frances Souders, three days shy of her 105th birthday, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 29th, 2022, surrounded by loving family. She was born to Victor and Nellie Fox on October 2, 1917, the fifth of six children.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Merle, who she met near Foxville, MD in the 1930’s, and married in 1935.

She worked various jobs throughout her life; however, her most important roles were as wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially loved her grandchildren and looked forward to time spent with family, with plenty of laughter and good food. She loved to cook and bake, and always had room for dessert.

She cherished church fellowship, making lifelong friends near and far. Her unyielding faith was shared with those around her. She will be dearly missed by family, numerous friends, and caregivers.

Survived by her four children, Shirley Thrasher (Max) of Auburn, IN; Skip Souders (Carolyn) of Wichita, KS; Vonnie Morton of Chico, CA; and Tim Souders (Colleen) of Andover, KS; as well as 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 11:00 am Thursday, October 6th, 2022, with memorial service immediately following at 1:00 pm, and will be held at Resthaven, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS. Mary Frances will be laid to rest in the Garden of the Gospels with her husband Merle.
