Lawrence J. Biggs, 92, beloved uncle, retired coffee shop manager for the Kansas State Vending Facility, passed away Jan 9, 2014. Rosary 7pm, Friday, Jan 10, DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt. Mass 10am, Saturday, Jan 11, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Memorials established with the Cathedral and Envision. Born in rural Sedgwick County, Kansas, November 9, 1921, Lawrence grew up on a farm near Garden Plain and is a 1940 graduate of Cathedral High School in Wichita. He managed coffee shops in the Petroleum Building and Southwestern Bell Telephone Building. Lawrence was a long time member of the Kansas Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, serving as their President. Although Lawrence was visually impaired all of his life, total blindness came in his later years. He bowled in the Kansas Handicapped League.Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Biggs; siblings, Katherine Konecny and George Biggs; nephews, LeRoy Konecny and Leo Konecny and beloved companion, Fern Keller. Survivors include nephew, Raymond J. Konecny, Sr. of Federal Way, WA; nieces, Patricia Malone and Pat Ann Konecny of Wichita; great nieces and nephews, Kathy (John) Felter, Patrick (Kimberly) Konecny of Wichita; Raymond J. (Suzanne) Konecny, Jr., Michael (Hong) Konecny, Patrick (Brenda) Konecny, Karan (Bill) Hibbard, Chris Konecny all of Washington State; Tim (Jeri) Konecny of Yuma AZ; Kelly (Linda) Konecny of Athol, ID; many more great- great nieces and nephews.He will be greatly missed for his loving and giving nature, his sense of humor, his fantastic memory and his beautiful smile.We are grateful to the staff at Via Christi Village and Court McLean for the loving care given to him during the last year.
