Janice Garland

Janice graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1958, and then attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. She worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita for several years as a secretary. She met her future husband, Charles Garland, during this time. In 1964 she moved to San Jose, CA for a brief time. She returned to Kansas and married Charles November 27th, 1964. They made their home in Wichita. Their only child, Julie, was born in March of 1967. Janice began working at Beech Aircraft in the 1970’s as a secretary in the engineering department. She was an excellent typist and extremely organized. Janice enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She spent countless hours watching their sporting events and enjoying their company. She liked going to movies and out to lunch with her friends. Janice was a long-time member of Countryside Christian Church. Helping with children and participating in women’s Bible studies were some of her favorite things. Her family finds comfort knowing Janice is in the presence of her savior Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dub and Ruby Darnell; husband, Charles Garland; and brother, Gerald Darnell.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Julie (Bruce) Meisch; grandchildren, Luke, Audrey and Hayley Meisch; brothers; Bill (Pat) Darnell and Jay (Colleen) Darnell. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service for Janice will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 7th, 2024, at Countryside Christian Church, with visitation one hour prior, 1919 S. Rock Road, Wichita, Kansas 67207.
