James owned his own janitorial service called, Rite-Way. He worked several years and then retired from Advance Welding, both in Wichita, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by: Mother: Alice Mitchell-Woods, Father: Willie Penn, Sr. Ex-Wife: Katherine (McGhee) Penn, and Widow: Mary Penn. and Daughter: Jenae Kay Penn-Polite.
James is survived by his Sons: James A. Penn, Jr. (Teresa), John E. Penn, Julian J. Penn, and Steven Bills (Terra). Daughters: JacQueline S. Penn, Lisa Pluckett (Dallas, Tx), Sheanun Nash (Topeka, Ks.), Tina L. Woodson, and Rita Rogers (Kevin). Grandchildren: Special Grandson: Pastor Jonathan K. Vann (Kansas City, Mo), JacQuita D. Shepard, Jermaine D. Shepard, Sr. (Tiffany) Maurice M. Penn and Kelli S. Penn-Young (Tyson) (Tulsa, Ok.), Florence D. Penn (Oklahoma City, Ok.), Jamaja L. Guesby “JJ” (Alexis) (Denver, Co.), Adrieno M. Beach, Rudy E. Beach, and Tre Smith (Dallas, Tx.), and LaChelle A. Oni (Pittsburg, Penn.) Devin R. Bills, Dallas Bills, Grace M. Bigley, and Faith A. Bigley. 16 great grand-children. 3 great-great grandchildren. Sister: Robbie Penn (Dallas, Tx). And NUMEROUS Nieces, Nephews, Great, Great, and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews, Cousins and close loved ones.
A visitation for James will be Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Homegoing service will be held 10:00am, Friday, February 25, 2022, Both will be at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206.
