Jim grew up farming and ranching with his family but had a love for flying. He learned to fly at the age of 16. He worked for multiple aviation companies around the Wichita area. In 1979 he married his wife and business partner Sharon. In 1981 Jim and Sharon started Alexander Aircraft Sales in Wichita. He worked the business until he retired at the age of 85.
Jim was involved in the Cessna 180 club, the Quiet Birdman, and a recipient of the Wilbur Wright award.
Jim was a devoted member of Country Acres Baptist Church. Jim was very outgoing, welcoming, and never met a stranger. Even through his illness he was always concerned about others. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and take care of his vehicles. He was a man of very strong faith who loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Piper, his parents,two brothers Robert and Wayne, and wife Sharon.
He is survived by his daughters Anna (Mike) Walker and Teresa (Lou) Strother; sons Greg (Joann) Stephens, Scott (Tammy) Stephens; brother-in-law Robert (Louise) Igo; grandchildren Kayce, Kelly, Weyde, Jon-Michael, Megan, Ian, Elizabeth, McKenzie, Wesley, Payton, Alex, Evan and Grant; 23 great-grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Jim will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with services immediately following at Country Acres Baptist Church, 8810 W. 10th St. N., Wichita, KS 67212. A graveside service will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
