Jacob Bayless, 34, of Los Angeles, California, passed away on November 27, 2024. Jake was born to Craig and Elizabeth Bayless in Wichita, Kansas.
He graduated from Maize High School and earned a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Digital Media from New Mexico State University. He went on to pursue a career as an independent filmmaker and worked on documentaries, music videos, and several Netflix and Amazon Prime shows. His work allowed him to travel throughout the United States and several countries around the world.
Jake had a great love for his family and would take the opportunities when he was home to visit and spend time with his grandparents, cousins, and friends. He enjoyed hiking, surfing and golfing. His co-workers describe him as having meticulous attention to detail and one who wouldn’t stop on a project until it was perfect. His friends describe him as one everybody loved because he cared so much about others. Jake was unafraid to live life and pursued his passion for creating through film. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Jake was preceded in death by uncle and Godfather, Joe Munoz; uncle, Shane Bayless; and grandfather, Stan Bayless. He is survived by his mother and father, Liz and Craig Bayless; his sister, Marisa and spouse, Tyson Broyles and their daughter Abigail; his grandparents, Louis and Florence Ortega, and Mary Ellen Bayless. He also leaves behind his beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles and an abundance of friends.
Visitation (9 a.m), Funeral Rosary (10 a.m.) and Mass (10:30 a.m.) will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 18218 W. Hwy 54, Goddard, KS 67052.
