Jerry Peer, aged 90, of Wichita, Kansas, peacefully departed this world on September 28, 2023. He was born on January 26, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, and lived a life filled with love and devotion. Jerry was a beloved husband of 63 years to Janice Peer and a cherished father to his daughter Sarah Peer. He is also survived by his niece, Susayn Brandes, and nephews, Marque and Jon Peer. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lilian Peer and older brother Charlie Peer.
Jerry was in the first graduating class of the University of Michigan Flint, where he began his path to success. For 37 years, Jerry dedicated himself to a fulfilling career at General Motors, specializing in labor relations and training. His commitment and expertise were widely respected and admired. There were many stories shared after retirement of secret meetings, crossing paths with the Black Panthers and taking cover in one of his plants during a shootout.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry found joy in his hobbies. He had a passion for genealogy, tracing his family roots and preserving their history for future generations. He also cherished moments spent with family and friends at their beloved lake house in Northern Michigan, creating lasting memories of laughter and togetherness.
Jerry Peer will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a respected member of his community. His legacy of integrity, dedication, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he touched.
Funeral service for Jerry will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, with visitation one hour prior, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
