A candle loses none of its light by lighting another candle. Beth was a incredible person whose spirit candle burned brightly and ignited the fire and light of the students she taught, the faculty she worked with, and the parents of her students. I'm sure this expanded to all of the people who were privelged enough to know her outside of her teaching contacts. My son is forever changed for the better as a result of having Beth for a teacher and a role model. He considers her a hero, and I can't think of a better word to describe her. How very sad that Beth's candle on Earth has come to its end. Her light will boldly shine on!!

I loved her wit, her spunk, and her desire to make religion class inspiring and enjoyable. Ms. Alexander thank you for being you and for touching so many lives.

She lived, she loved, she was a force. I am so sorry for your loss but Beth made a difference in the universe. take a deep breath and remember a life well-done.

The last time we spoke was in December 2004 and I was on leave from Iraq/Kuwait. She said "mike, your sister's grades are slipping, and I blame you! or the Army, I haven't decided which!" Somehow that wit and slight sarcasm made things a little bit better. I know my deployment was hard on baby sis and she helped her through it. Her compassion, wisdom and inspiration for so many will never be forgotten. Godspeed Ms. Alexander. Until we meet again.....  
    To the family members- thank you for sharing such a kind person with the world. My prayers and condolences are with you in this difficult time.

I think I must be one of your oldest students, Beth. You, I believe, were just beginning in the profession when I had the honor of having you teach me in 11th grade English. That was 1984-85. You were such a good teacher and friend, I had to keep you with me; even from a great distance, because you mattered so much in my life. You made life seem possible - you made everything seem attainable, and good. You saw the best in everyone and never asked anything in return! Well, except for us to do our best. Thank you, Beth, for your brilliance, passion, and your neverending light.

I send love to Beth's family and friends. Oh my, weren't we all blessed to know her?

Ms. Alexander was an unforgettable character. After almost 20 years, I can still hear her say, "In the immortal words of Flipper, 'Eh-Eh'." Memories of her class and quirks brings a smile to my face. RIP, Ms. Alexander.

Ms. Alexander, you inspired me to be better, along with so many other students you have taught over the years. It has been about 15 years since last we spoke, but I hope you know that I carry all you shared in a little locket within my heart. I thank you for sharing your story with me. I thank you for an opportunity to be on stage. I thank you for pushing me to do better for my life. Your wisdom kept me from giving up. As a pregnant teen, you did not turn a blind eye, but wrapped me in your wings. I still keep the journal and the baby book you gave me to chronicle our journey. You were right Ms. Alexander, she and her sisters that have followed are "marvelous." My little family is grateful for you teaching me about the arts and literature. We are avid readers and theater lovers because of your influence, and passion for the written word. My girls love Cats and Les Miserables just as I did when you introduced them to me. Myself and my brothers enjoyed being just a few of your "kids." Your legacy will live on in our families and the memories we share of your beautiful spirit. I will never forget your sly little wink and beautiful smile that lit up the whole room. I apologize for not coming to see you, and having to type this. Know that you are still loved by me. See you when I get there Ms. Lady.

Beth was a wonderful friend and colleague to everyone in our Garden Plain schools.  We will miss her sense of humor and wit.  She touched everyone's lives: teachers, students, and parents.

I am going to truly miss you Beth.  I will miss our cappucinno talks during our classroom breaks. You were such a kind person and a wonderful teacher, but most of all, a good friend.  My own children loved you dearly as a teacher and a friend.  Alayna would look forward to stopping in to see you when she got back from K-State.  You were her confidence maker.  Garden Plain High School will not be the same without you.  Rest in peace.

Beth was an inspiration to her friend Shirley Bessette. Beth kept Shirley young. Beth was great as an Associate and Adorer with the Blood of Christ convent.

May you rest in peace.  You made such an impact in my son's life as his teacher at GP.  My parent teacher conferences with you always brought a smile to my face.  You were an amazing lady.  My sympathy to your loved ones.

I only had you for one class in high school. But, 15 years later, I still think of you and how much you taught us all. I'm sorry your time was so short. You'll live on in the memories of all the people you touched.
