Donald C. Watson

Donald Charles Watson, age 86, Heavy Equipment Operator, Loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015, at his home. Donald was born December 5, 1928, in rural Stanton County, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Ella Mae (Fox) Watson. On June 27, 1944, he married Edna Elizabeth Holler, in Ashland, Kansas. Donald and Edna owned and operated Watson Asphalt Company for many years and worked side-by-side until their retirement. They were also active members at Riverlawn Christian Church where they developed many lasting relationships. Donald is survived by his wife of 71 years, Edna E. Watson, of the home; daughter, Donna R. and husband, H. Allen Miller, Olathe, Colorado; son, Scott A. Watson, Kansas City; grandchildren, Diana L. Miller and husband, Lee Ladd, Indianapolis, Indiana, Allen W. and Elizabeth Miller, Montrose, Colorado, Brent L. Miller, California, Tami M. and husband, Jason McCay, Olathe, Colorado, Christi A. and husband, Joe Aragon, Montrose, Colorado, Chris A. and wife, Shaleena Miller, Denver, Colorado; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a brother, Kenneth and wife, Mary Blanscet, Oregon. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara J. Watson; granddaughter, Lisa A. Hays; siblings, Minnie Perry, Joe Watson, Homer Watson, and Grace Thompson. Funeral service 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, at Riverlawn Christian Church, Wichita; graveside will follow at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Highland Cemetery, Ashland, Kansas. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Riverlawn Christian Church, 4243 N. Meridian Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67204. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hillside Funeral Home - East.
