Though born in Newton, he attended schools in Inman, Kansas, and graduated from Ponca City High School in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He also graduated from WSU, and was an avid Shockers fan.
David’s many accomplishments include becoming an Eagle Scout, Ret. 1st Sergeant in the Kansas National Guard, Park City County Commissioner from 1995-2005, active member of the Sedgwick County Republican Party, and he served on many committees within Sedgwick County. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling in his leisure time.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia Bennett of Houston, Texas, and Yvonne Guerrini of Sulphur, Louisiana.
David is survived by daughters, Jennifer Mutchler of Derby, Kansas, and Lisa (Brandon) Barcenilla of Franklin, Tennessee; grandchildren, Naomi (Michah) Nevins, Eddie Mutchler, Grayson, Bryson, and Hudson Barcenilla, and Jake (Andrea) McGhee; great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Rosalie) Robbins of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and sister, Rita Moore of Laguna Vista, Texas.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Wichita Bible Church, 633 S. Woodlawn Blvd., Wichita, KS 67218. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, 1208 N. College St., Winfield, KS 67156 at 1:00 p.m.
