Dale E. Wilson, 93, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in Wichita. Dale was born the son of Lewis and Bessie Wilson on October 15, 1928 in Wichita, Kansas. Dale and Patricia Wilson were united in marriage on February 23, 1973 in Wichita, Kansas. Together they celebrated 31 years of marriage before her passing in 2004. Dale owned and operated Wilson Body Shop in Wichita, Kansas that he took over from his father. He was active with the Kansas Amateur Softball Association including the positions of District Commissioner of Southeast Kansas beginning in 1960 and Kansas State Softball Umpire in Chief from 1986 to 1999. He was named to the Kansas Softball Hall of Honor in 1992. In 2009, he received the Award of Excellence for U.S. Region 12-National Award for Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 40th Infantry Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Sharon Shuey; brother, Duane.
Survivors include his daughters, Terri (Raymond) Evans and Kristie Hetrick; sister, JoAnn Van Dusen; brother, Gerald (Rosa) Wilson; grandsons, Blake (Katie) Evans, Cole (Tami) Evans, Austin Evans, Alex (Liz) Kent; granddaughter, Andie (Jema) Kent; great-granddaughters, Kennedy Evans, Leighton Evans, Penny Kent; great-grandson, Nixon Kent and many extended family members.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday August 16, 2022 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1550 N. Chapel Hill St., Wichita, KS 67206. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1824 Oliver Ave. Wichita, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
