Sister Anne Claire Price, 86, a Sister of St. Joseph for 68 years, entered eternal life Sept. 28, 2015. She was born May 19, 1929 in New Orleans, LA to Roderick M. and Clara Verges Price and lived in the South until she was relocated to Kansas in 2006 following the devastation of hurricane Katrina. At that time she became a resident of Marian Hall at the Wichita Center of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Sister taught in Catholic elementary schools in New Roads, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Morgan City, Louisiana for 35 years. Following this ministry she became part of a team in pastoral care at Mercy, Baptist and Children’s Hospitals in New Orleans. From 1985 to 2005 Sister Anne Claire served as a staff member of the People Program in the New Orleans area which offers educational and social opportunities to people over 50 years of age.
Homecoming will be Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., the Wake at 6:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Thursday, October 1, 2015, all at Mt. St. Mary Convent in Wichita. Burial will follow immediately in the convent cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Dear Neighbor Ministries or the Sisters of St. Joseph retirement fund at 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita, KS 67218.
