Al was an engineer in the aircraft industry with stints at Cessna, Bede, Beech and Boeing, retiring from Boeing in 1996. He was a gifted engineer and mechanic who rebuilt cars, boats, airplanes, motorcycles and anything else with a motor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann and his parents, Paul and Velma Thompson.
He is survived by his brother, Ron (Kathy) Thompson; sister, Susan Thompson; nieces, Amy (Josh) Teunessen and Lori (Matthew) Ivey; 5 great nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Al’s memory can be made to Hope Community Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Hope Community Church, 1831 E. 21st St., Andover, KS 67002.
