A memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM, Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy., Wichita Falls, Texas, 76302.
Riley retired in 2015 after being a dedicated employee for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 45 years. During his years of working for the railroad, he made many lifelong friendships. After retirement from BNSF and staying home for a year, he decided he needed to go back to work where he was the happiest. He went to work for Walmart where he enjoyed taking care of the facilities and helping wherever he was needed. That is what made him happy more than anything, helping others.
Riley loved working in the yard and keeping the weeds at bay. It was always immaculate. He was very particular about his yard, and it had to be mowed in a diagonal pattern. No one else was allowed to mow his yard. He enjoyed always keeping busy and wasn’t one to just sit and rest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Catherine Elkins Moore, and sister, Margaret Sullivan.
Riley is survived by his loving wife Julia Moore, of Wichita Falls, Texas; son William Riley Moore II, of Azle, Texas; step-son Jay Myers of Wichita Falls, Texas, sisters who he loved dearly, Marsha (Torchy) Snyder, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Susan Hooper, of Cottondale, Texas, Catherine (Mo) Moore, of Wilsonville, Oregon, his special friend Erline Long-Zlotkowski of San Antonio, Texas, several nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. He also leaves behind his beloved Gypsy, who will miss the daily breakfast he cooked for her and the long neighborhood walks they would take.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Wichita Falls for their love and care of Riley as well as the many friends for the calls, prayers, visits, and support during this difficult time.
For those desiring, donations may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76310, (www.howf.org), or your favorite charity.
