Videll Swafford, 87, of Wichita Falls, passed away on April 8, 2016. A funeral service will be held at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 13, at 2 p.m., with Chaplain Harvey McMurry officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will greet friends and relatives at a visitation before the funeral, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway.
Born on a farm in Washita County, Oklahoma on April 24, 1928, Videll was the middle child of Charlie Lloyd and Nola Faye (Lewis) Swafford. After moving to Wichita Falls with his family, he graduated from Wichita Falls High School. Before finishing school he began what would become more than a 50-year career working for automobile dealerships, specifically Chevrolet. He was the parts manager for Longhorn Chevrolet in Wichita Falls before moving to North Richland Hills. There, he finished out his career as the assistant parts manager for Hudiburg Chevrolet. Videll was also a Mason and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Videll was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Annie, his first wife Beatrice, and a daughter Elizabeth Faye. He is survived by his wife Lou Swafford, a brother Charles and his wife Barbara, a son Johnny and his wife Jo Ann, a daughter Judy Hendrix, a son Jimmy and his wife Pam, and two step-children Butch Garrett and Suzy McGhee. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials in Videll’s honor be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, 76310 or First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, 1200 9th Street, 76301.
