Stephen was born to William and Carolyn Petty, on February 20, 1966, in Wichita Falls, TX.
He was a 1984 graduate of Hirschi High School. After graduating, he worked in the auto parts and auto service business most of his life. He married his first wife Cheryl and they had his first daughter, Taylor Paige. They later divorced, and he reunited with his Kirby Junior High sweetheart Gina Muñoz. Four years later on May 20, 1995, they married and in 1997 they lost their son Jonathon to a stillborn birth. In 1999 they had their rainbow baby Destiny and in 2002 they had their youngest Isabella. Stephen would say, “With three daughters, I’m bound to get a son.”
Stephen loved to watch all sports, especially football. His favorite teams were the Cowboys and TX Longhorns. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. In his younger days, Stephen raced cars at Colonel C’s racetrack in Lawton, OK. He loved to cook and could cook just about anything from Mexican food to BBQ, two of his favorites! He never met a stranger, was friendly, and always had a smile on his face, and a joke to tell. He would help you out in any way he could. He was a big softy, especially when it came to his two grandchildren- Aliyah and Mason, who filled his heart.
Stephen is preceded in death by his father William E. Petty of Wichita Falls, TX; his mother Carolyn Fugett and step-father Lewis Fugett of New Braunfels, TX; his son Jonathon E. Petty of Wichita Falls, TX; brother Walter Fugett of New Braunfels; and sister Darla Herr of Berrien Springs, MI.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 28 years, Gina Petty; his children Taylor Paige & Jordan Wright of Houston, TX; Destiny and Colby Roberts of Electra, TX; Isabella Petty of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren Aliyah Wright and Mason Roberts; his sisters Vickie & Richard Downing of Wichita Falls, TX; Paula & Cary Leverett, Elaine & Jeff Moyer, and Lori & Bobby Jackson all of New Braunfels, TX.
