Ronald D. Whitson

Ronald D. “Ronnie” Whitson, 76, of Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with L. B. Rainbolt officiating. Interment will be in the Veterans Garden of Crestview Memorial Park under the auspices of the U. S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Whitson was born January 3, 1937 in Lela, Oklahoma to Paul and Lillian (Niedigh) Whitson. He attended high school in Oklahoma and later joined the U. S. Army serving for two years active duty with service in the Army Reserve following. He was a resident of Wichita Falls for 35 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church here. Ronnie was employed at Howmet and then later at Pratt Whitney as a Quality Assurance Inspector before retirement. He loved to travel and work in his yard, especially tending to his flowers. Ronnie was a devoted father and grandfather.

Mr. Whitson was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack Whitson and Willie Whitson. Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Bashford and husband, Garey of Wichita Falls; a son, Terry Whitson of Electra, TX; brothers, Eddie Whitson of Wichita Falls and Jimmy Whitson of Frederick, OK; grandchildren, Bethany Lane of Wichita Falls and Teri Lea Whitson of Denton, TX.

In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd. 76310.
