Phyllis Murphy

A visitation and viewing will begin at 9 AM, Thursday with the funeral service beginning at 10 AM at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later time in Crestview Memorial Park.

Phyllis was born on May 23, 1930 in Crown City, Ohio to Cecil and Lillie Waugh Holley. She married Ralph Leroy Murphy on February 10, 1951 in Gallipolis, Ohio. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughters: Patricia Ann Douglas and Teresa Susan Howard; son: Ralph David Murphy; brother: Lewis Ray Holley; and sister: Virginia Casper.

Phyllis was a homemaker, enjoying reading, cooking, baking, playing skippo, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her children: Michael Ray Murphy and wife Jane of Cedar Park, Texas, Lillie Beth Virden and husband Thomas Michael of Boyce, Louisiana, and Sherri Sherrier of Universal City, Texas; sisters: Katy Violet Gay and husband Max and Cecile Fay Knutson and husband Jack; grandchildren: Mary Ann Birck and husband Rodney, Katy Beth Murphy, Ryan Nathaniel Virden and wife Nhi Nguyen, Nicholas Michael Virden and wife Saana Holm, Jennifer Mirll-Friedman and husband Andrew, Lindsay Sherrier, Matthew Sherrier and wife Katie, Amy Sherrier, and Christopher Allen Howard and wife Jessica; great-grandchildren: Collin Virden, Ella Virden, Lennon Friedman, and Harper Friedman.
