Mary was born September 26, 1938, in Hugo, Oklahoma to William and Edith Ayers.
Mary married Steve Couch and they started their happy journey together in 1957. They began
their pastoral ministries in 1962. They were pastors all over West Texas and Wichita Falls until
their retirement in 2016. This journey included 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, lifelong friendships, and so many blessings and
blessings given along the way.
Mary loved God, her family, serving others, and to spread the love of Jesus. She volunteered
her time at various places throughout their ministry. She was a prayer warrior. If she said she
would pray, you could count on it. As long as she could hold a Bible and read, that is what she
was at peace doing. Mary always instilled the same values in her family. Her children and
grandchildren have memories of being with her and following behind as we watched as she
selflessly served, prayed, and loved.
Survivors include her husband Steve Couch of Wichita Falls; children Steven Couch and wife
Jill, Jimmy Couch and wife Glenda, Paul Couch, David Couch, and Beth Heldt. Fourteen
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Sisters-in-law,
brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Tim Couch, her grandson Joshua Heldt and her siblings
Wade Ayers and Nancy Lingerfelt.
