Larry Lambert, age 86, of Wichita Falls, passed away on April 27,2017. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at University United Methodist Church,3405 Taft Boulevard, with Rev. Tom Medley officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will greet friends and relatives at a visitation Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway.
Larry was born to P.H. and Elta Lambert on December 27, 1930, in Wichita Falls, and was a lifelong resident of the City. He graduated from Midwestern University in 1951, and University of Texas Law School in 1954. He was in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 as a special agent for the Counter Intelligence Corps, with a top secret security clearance. He was married to Irene Hasson on August 28, 1953.
Larry practiced law in Wichita Falls from 1956 until his retirement in 2015. This included affiliations with Nelson, Sherrod & Lambert; Fillmore, Lambert, Purtle & Lee; Wilson, Lambert & White; solo practice; and he was Assistant Wichita Falls City Attorney from 1992 to 1995. Larry was a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Bar Foundation, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was past president of the Wichita County Bar Association, and past vice-president of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. He was also past chairman of the 13th District Grievance Committee, and was past member of the State Bar Personal Injury Trial law Advisory Commission.
Larry served as a Wichita Falls City Councilor from 1969 to 1973, including one year as Mayor Pro-Tem. He was past chairman of the Midwestern State University Board of Regents. He was also past president of the Midwestern State University Ex-Students Association, Wichita Falls Kiwanis Club, Wichita Falls Toastmasters Club, and Wichita Mental Health Association. He also was a past vice-president of the League of Women Voters. He was a member of University United Methodist Church and a long time member and teacher of the Crusader’s Class.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Lambert, his parents and a brother, Pat H. Lambert, Jr. He is survived by son Larry, Jr. of South Bend, Indiana, son Mikal and wife Julie of Wichita Falls, daughter Elaine Catron and husband Jon of Wichita Falls, and son Kenneth and wife Lucy of Dallas. Other survivors include his grandchildren Eric Booth, Alice Booth, Alexander Lambert, Melissa Lambert, Bonnie Lambert, Kendra Catron, Haley Catron, Madeline Hendrick, and 4 great grandchildren.
