Funeral Services will be held 10:00AM Monday, September 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, Texas.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday, September, 23 ,2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Jim was born August 19, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James Luther and Johnnye Cleo Brown.
He was employed by T.U. Electric for 35 years as a customer representative before his retirement in 1992. He was an avid bowler and won many local and regional tournaments including the 1963 Texas State Doubles championship with his longtime friend, Harry Brewer. He was a past president of the Wichita Falls Bowling Association, and member of their hall of fame. He also was a past president of the Texas State Bowling Association and member of their hall of fame. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a pastor’s prayer partner, worked in the media department for two years and worked in VBS as bus monitor with “Chief”. He will be remembered for his dry humor by his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Luther Brown and Johnnye Cleo Brown, two former wives, Phyllis Brown and Louise Brown, and two infant children who are angels in heaven.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, three children, Chris Brown and wife Debra of Wichita Falls, Kyle Brown and wife Kim of Wichita Falls, and Bambi Flores and husband John of Willow Park, Texas, five stepchildren, LaWanna Johnson and husband Randy, Cynthia Whatley, Marcia Proffit and husband Joel, Pat Lindley, and Gregg Lindley and wife Misty, six grandchildren, 14 step grand children, and three great grand children, a brother, Tom Brown and wife Gretchen, and a very special aunt, Virginia Hearn, and also a faithful companion, Tonto, a Bichan.
