Here it is your anniversary for crossing over--I still can't believe your gone.  You deserved so much more; I know how hard you worked to provide for your family and future.  Not only did you work as the Phase II Radiology Instructor at Sheppard AFB, but in the evenings and weekends worked at Bethania Hospital downtown Wichita Falls, and Midwestern State University.  I know you're in a better place, I just wish you could have enjoyed more time in retirement.  I'm not much for alcohol, but I need to have a shot of Jack Daniels   in memory of you.  Thanks for putting up with Todd Betts, Ken Taylor, Mike Marra and me when we were your students in 1983.  I thank God our paths crossed and know I will see you again.  YBIC

Miss Jackie so much! One of my fondest  memories is our trips that we took in his white van. Such fun, traveling all over the United States with Christy, Bill and Jill, Bobby and me. We had so much fun together with Jackie as our driver and Bobby or Bill as our navigator. When any of us would say STOP, he would put the brakes on and we would take pictures of state signs or whatever. RIP Jackie.

First, graduating Phase I US Air Force Radiology training I ranked 2nd in my class and could have gone to some pretty nice bases.  I chose Sheppard AFB, and my classmates were in disbelief, but I chose Sheppard because of Jackie Miller.  He laid a really strong foundation for me professionally.   Second, he got on the phone to tell the USAF Academy Radiology department they were making a mistake in refusing my PCS there for my first Permanent Change of station.  Apparently, some of their own Phase II students were starting vicious rumors about me in the hopes they would get the position.
Third, he set me up on a blind date with a really nice girl, but eventually I blew that trying to be someone I was not. In short, the guy taught me, supported me, and cared about me; that's why I call him mentor and friend, and miss him.

I met Jackie Miller, my first mentor, as a Phase II Radiology student at Sheppard AFB TX (1982-1983).  "Some people come into our lives and then leave quickly. I was saddened to hear if Jackie's passing.  I never worked with him, he never trained me, but in 1987 to 1988 we spoke many times during my Air Force Medical Lab Training at Sheppard.  Sharing the same classroom with Radiology,  I learned how kind and what a down to earth man he was.  With me being from Mississippi, we had a kindred connection.  I know you are missed by family and friends.  You may not realize, but the times we met and chatted during my 9 months at the hospital left an impact on me of what a good hearted person you were.  Thank you for  your service and your knowledge you provided to many AF Rad Techs as well as befriending this new Airman from MS.

So Sorry to hear about Jackie.  I was stationed at Sheppard AFB Regional Hospital from 1987- early 1990.  He was a good man and taught me a ton about radiologic technology. It was because of him that I passed my registry the first time!  I wanted to recognize his relentless service to our military and community.

I had the pleasure of working with Jackie while stationed at Sheppard AFB from 1984-1988, then again from 1994-1999.  He was a good friend and colleague.  He will be greatly missed by all.  

Jackie was my phase II instructor in 2002 and also a mentor. I was going through a divorce and he would see me having a bad day and tell me to come to his office and we would talk and he would give me that look. The one that says he was about to drop some advice. Sometimes, his advice was buried in a story. 
He had the best "Jackie-isms" and hearing them so much, sometimes I would forget that other people might not know them. The first time I said "Bufferilla" to blank stares reminded me how he was one of a kind. His sense of humor and passion for living life made the world a better place.

I met Jackie many moons ago when I joined the ICU/CCU team and Christy became one of my mentors.  
Jackie taught me so much on the night shift and continued to be a treasured friend both at work and personally.  He had the biggest heart and was larger than life.   Joe and I will miss him very much.

I can’t express the type of man Jackie was in just a few words. Selfless, honest, kind hearted, big hearted, happy, content...he was a colleague, a mentor, a life-advisor, but mainly, he was my friend. To Christy and the entire family, Gar and I are heartbroken over your loss. We love you and are praying for you. 

Jackie Miller was the most important influence in my life.  I met him at Eglin AFB, for Phase 2 Medical X-Ray Training a few months after joining the Air Force as a Vietnam Era Draftee.  There were a few X-Ray Techs in the Eglin 
X-Ray Department who outranked Jackie but he was clearly the department leader  and rightfully so.  He was the most gifted X-Ray Tech and patient manager I ever had the privilege to work with in all aspects of the craft.  Under his tutelage, I evolved in skill and got to the  point where patients would ask for me by name to do their X-Rays.  That is such a very special point in an X-Ray Tech’s development for those fortunate enough and thoughtful enough to achieve it.  When Phase II was over I got what was considered an undesirable assignment to Laughlin AFB, TX.  Jackie told me that Laughlin might end up being one of the best assignments of my career. He was right as always; I was able to work at the base Hospital and also part time at Del Rio Memorial.  I became the NCOIC of the X-Ray Department as a SSgt, I earned a college degree and I was selected to be a Commissioned Officer in the USAF.  I give Jackie, his work ethic, his friendship and his leadership skills the credit for all of that.  We communicated regularly over the years until just a few weeks ago.  He was sick when we talked last; he went for treatment for a respiratory infection that sounded very serious over the phone and he was admitted to the hospital.  We never had a chance to talk to again and I could feel that something was very wrong.  Jackie was the brother I always wanted but my parents never had.  He was the best brother I could have ever asked for.  I will never forget him and I will do my very best to earn the privilege to see him again in the beauty of eternal life.  RIP my teacher, my friend, and the best brother I could have ever found.  You deserve a very special place in heaven and I am sure you will earn it.

Jackie was what every Radiologist desired wherever we worked. He was willing and able with a great attitude and a smile on his face.I was fortunate to meet and work with Jackie since 1974 and he made me a better doctor, a better Radiologist, and a better person. We worked together at Bethania, at Sheppard,and at MSU. He was the forerunner of  a Radiology Assistant. He was also my close friend. I can say for many doctors, Jackie was the  go to person in radiology. Christy was the go to nurse at Bethania. He  was a great neighbor,willing to help at any time. He was there for his family and their needs and now in Heaven helping out . I will really miss him as will so many.

Here are some pictures of my friend of 30 years with some of the students.  Nobody cared more about the Radiologic Technology profession and making sure our program produced the best technologists than Jackie.  He was dearly loved and we feel the loss intensely.

This is a part of the email professor Jackie sent me after my coach passed away in June. He always supported me through everything I did while giving me useful advice for my future. His energy was contagious, and I am truly blessed and grateful to have known such a beautiful person. As I was told to honor my coach by striving towards her expectations and keeping my chin up, I will do the same for professor Jackie and live up to his expectations as well. Rest easy professor Jackie, love you.

Jackie was an amazing man. I worked with him at Sheppard AFB from 1994 - 1998. I also had the pleasure of working with him at Bethania from 1992  - 1998. I enjoyed every minute of his company. Most of all his advice.  He was not afraid of anything.  He could always figure out a way to getter done. He always treated me as a close friend. I loved seeing him, when I would go to Wichita Falls to visit family. He is loved by many!  He is a great addition to God’s kingdom!  You will be missed. A life well lived is missed by so many, was loved by so many, and leaves a gaping hole that only God can fill. Christy,  Jackie,  and I were having informal Bible studies over the phone, looking at some deep things and pondering   God's ways.  We all understood the gravity of today's situations.  We rested in the fact that God has a master plan that will deal with the "mystery of iniquity" and give us safe passage to a perfect world where pain and death are no more.   Jackie is now in the presence of his Lord, rejoicing and learning and praising with full understanding.  Reading comments here, certain words are repeated.. kindness, caring, encouraging, selfless.   Such is the legacy of a loving father and devoted husband, who has now heard the words, "Well done" as he entered into a world so glorious we cannot even  imagine it!  To his family-- you see the giant hole here, but he sees the whole!  You see thru the cloudy window pane of earth's dimension.  He sees clearly,  face to face with Jesus.  In your darkest waves of grief,  try to picture him there with full understanding, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead and comfort you.  May God give you peace and a renewed spirit to pick up Jackie's sword of truth and fight darkness "while it is still called today."  But first, may God heal your broken heart.

I was only 19 years old when Jackie took me under his wing at MSU in the radiology department. There wasn’t a day that passed where he didn’t call me “baby.” I learned so much from him! Back when there was a still a dark room and film to process in the labs, he taught me so much that I still carry with me today! He was such an optimistic and caring person who LOVED what he did. He helped grow my passion for radiologic sciences, and for that, I will forever be grateful! 

I am just at a loss for words, I still can't believe he is gone.  Such a wonderful, caring, sweet family man who has touched SO many individuals in so many ways. I was a brand new x-ray tech there at United Regional, when I met him, and was given the awesome opportunity to get to work with him for several years, when he would fill in on our evening shift. He was such a great mentor, friend, and coworker, that will be dearly missed! RIP Jackie Miller until we get to see you again one day.💗

Jackie Jack, as I called him, was such a great person.  His spirit and laughter could brighten up the darkest days.  He truly was an inspiration to me. My thoughts and prayers are with Jackie's family.  Jackie was full of life and always made me smile.  I will forever remember his laugh, sense of humor, and genuine personality.  He will forever be a part of the MSU Texas family.

If it weren’t for Jackie, I’d have never made it as an AF X-ray tech. Learning under him in phase 2 and years later having him place a motivational “boot” in my rear, I was able to pass my quality control exam. I’ll never forget his face at his retirement when he saw CMSgt (ret) Zembrod in attendance, as we had secretly invited the Chief. He’s affected so many lives and careers, both military and civilian and his legacy will endure. Christy, we love you and pray for you and “the boys.”

Jackie was an inspirational man to so many.  As a father, husband, friend, colleague, and work buddy he was exceptional.  I met Jackie over 25 years ago when I was an instructor at Sheppard.  Jackie was by far the best Phase 2 instructor we had.  I worked with him part time also downtown.  He always had a story to tell and his laugh would light up a room.  I am so glad we kept in contact over the years.  He will be missed and I know he is in Heaven spreading joy to all.  Love you Jackie!!!!  God’s speed

Jackie was a good friend, co-worker and more like a father figure to most of us.  He always had a positive attitude about everything.  He was one of the most caring, Selfless people I know.  He truly loved his students and would get so excited just talking about teaching his students at MSU.  We had such fun at work together and on trips to the coast for seminars.  He would go out of his way just to make sure we all had fun and took us to places we had never been but wanted to see.  Jackie, you will truly be missed. Jackie was my teacher and friend. I respected him so much. He also taught me more than I can ever explain, whether it was about radiology or it was me coming into his office to talk about personal life problems. We always joked that at graduation when I walked across we would “fight”, sadly due to covid that never happened and now it will never ever happen. I will always remember how thoughtful and generous he was. I am going to miss him so much. He was a second father to me and I loved him dearly. Rest In Peace Jackie and many many prayers go out to your family for healing and acceptance of this situation.

You could always count on Jackie!  Whether it was something small or something so big you wouldn’t ask because it would be such an imposition. I was a student of Jackie s at the hospital at Sheppard Air Force Base back in 1980. I fulfilled my dream of becoming an good tech and person because of Jackie. I graduated number 2 in my class because of his awesome teaching, and dedication. I went on to settle here in Wichita Falls and worked for 20 years in our hospital system. I became very good and respected in my profession due to Jackie. It s was a wonderful career for 21 years. I will miss him dearly. He was an awesome person and teacher. My heart goes out to his family. 

Jackie was a wonderful person. He taught me so much about life when I worked with him in X-ray as a 21 year old. He set me in the direction of being a nurse. He was so funny and encouraging. Praying  for Christy and family. 

Jackie you will be missed greatly. You were always such a kind soul and very caring. I know God is hugging you tightly welcoming you home. Rest in eternal peace, my friend

I first met Jackie in 1986 when I was a Phase 1 instructor at Sheppard AFB. He was a great teacher, friend and mentor and he would always have a big smile on his face or be laughing about something. I worked with Jackie at the Clinics of North Texas in the late 70's. He was always such a pleasure to be around.  Always had a smile and ready to play a prank on someone.  Such a nice man.  Rest in peace.

I was the Unit Education and Training Manager for the 82d Medical Group on Sheppard AFB from 1993-1996 and worked in the same hallway as Jackie who taught the Phase Two Radiologic Sciences course on Sheppard then.  It was such an honor to have met him.  He was a joy to talk and work with every day.  His kind heart and the way he softly and courteously attended to the needs of his students was a daily blessing.
