Edward Robert Rogers passed peacefully away Saturday, July 30, 2011 surrounded by family. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Chapel officiated by Brother Ronnie J. Lawson of Thornberry Baptist Church.
Ed was born to Eldredge Aubrey Rogers and Nanna May Rogers on March 25, 1917 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a lifetime resident of Wichita County. He married Evelyn Blanton August 15, 1936. He started work in the oil fields at a young age to support his family and spent the rest of his life there advancing to Production Superintendant for R.A. King Oil Co. and Petco Oil until his retirement. Ed was known as an honest hardworking family man. His passion was traveling with his wife Evelyn. He loved fishing, gardening, his dogs, tending to his pecan orchard and being surrounded by his large family and many friends.
Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 63 years, Evelyn Blanton Rogers; daughter, Roberta Knowles; brothers, Elmo Leon Rogers, Eldredge Rogers; and sisters, Kathie Lee Kuhlmann, and Faye Lowery.
Survivors include his daughter, Geneva and husband Toby Whitaker of Iowa Park; brother, Aubrey and wife O.J. Rogers of Emory, TX; grandson Kent and wife Tanya Knowles; granddaughters, Angela Burgher, Teresa and husband Jim Hargrove, Karen and husband Ricky Harlan, Sheri and husband Barry Mahler, and Becky and husband Kip Hardin; thirteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
