Cleo Haven “Scotty” Scott went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 18, 2012. A graveside service with full military honors has been scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday May 21 at Crestview Memorial Park in the Garden of Inspiration.
Scotty was born September 27, 1924 in New Albany, IN. He served in the Navy, Army and Air Force over the span of 20 years serving in World War II aboard the USS Saratoga and in the Korean War. He was able to travel the United States with his wife and four daughters letting them experience different cultures within our great land. Scotty retired in 1966 from active military service but went right back to work as a civilian instructor of Jets I and II at Sheppard Air Force Base. He retired after serving 20 years. Scotty was a true HERO and was proud to serve his country.
After his second retirement, Scotty spent many days playing golf with his retiree friends and fishing with his son’s in laws.
Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy Elizabeth; and his oldest daughter, Jennie Kay Stephenson.
Survivors include his three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and George Downing, Joyce Marie and Wally Grider, Jean Marie and Pat Navarre; six grandchildren, Sandra Kay Dyer, Phillip Downing, Kristie Grider, Cynthia Moss, Jason Downing, Kelly Lemond; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Cory Dyer, Cheyenne Grider, Megan Castilleja, Gerald Armstrong, Mallory Castilleja, Megan Ashlock, Madison Castilleja, MacKenzie Armstrong, Jayden Moss, Mason Jack Ashlock, Jaylee Moss, Reece Lemond, and Emma Elizabeth Lemond.
Visitation will be held 3:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
