Bruce Stephen Boyd went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 18th at 7:05pm. Bruce was a native of Wichita Falls and was born August 2, 1950. He graduated from Rider High School, where he was an all district baseball pitcher. Afterward he served in the United States Marine Corps, eventually going on to earn a degree in Business from the University of Houston.
Bruce married his loving wife Jeanie in 1982. October would have been their 40th wedding anniversary. She was no more than a few feet away from his side until the very end.
Anyone who met Bruce was drawn into his infectious smile and quick wit. He held many distinctions in various organizations in town. He was the President of the Wichita Falls Lions Club and received many accolades during his tenure there.
Bruce and Jeanie started Spherion Staffing services, bringing a service that was desperately needed in Wichita Falls. They owned, and have successfully built it from the ground up for the last 3 decades. They continued to be selected for company awards throughout most of those for excelling in every field of performance.
Bruce is preceded in death by his Mother, Bonnie Lynch of Wichita Falls, father William Boyd and son Donnie Anderson. He is survived by His wife Jeanie Boyd, and two sons; Daniel and wife Kristy; and Blake and wife Caroline. His stepfather Kenneth Lynch, brother Terry Boyd and wife Sandy of Wichita Falls and nephew Gabe and wife Emily and their children.
An avid reader, Bruce had amassed hundreds of novels that he loved to read, and he was known by his family for knowing the Bible from front to back. He will be remembered for many things, but most of all for his love of family.
Besides Jeanie and his three sons, the joy of Bruce’s life were his grandkids Ashton, Ella, Emerson, Gus and Duke. To whom he was simply and lovingly known as ‘Ace’.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held Tuesday March 1st at 1:30pm at Grace Church, at 5214 Stone Lake in Wichita Falls.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hamptonvaughancrestview.com for the Boyd family.
