Brenda L. Burns

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Howard Chapman of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Angels at Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the funeral home.

Brenda was born October 22, 1951 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Leonard and Donna (Chelf) Cowley. She married her husband Steven in Belleville, Illinois on April 18, 1971. Brenda was a wonderful, loving and caring nurse in the critical care unit. She loved her job so much because she wanted her patients to know God before they left this earth. Brenda was strong spirited and a very spiritual person. She was a hard worker not only as a nurse but also in the family business. Brenda was a Sunday school teacher and cared for other people before herself. She was looking forward to going to heaven and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Andy and Steven Jr. and one brother, Richard Thompson.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years Steven, children; Shannon Stevens and husband Donald, Stephine Rollo and husband Clay and Shawn Burns and wife Kristyle; sisters, Rebecca Moore and husband Ronald and Dixie Moye and husband Denver; a brother, Will Thompson.
