A graveside service for Betty will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Cemetery Gazebo, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302, with Tommy John Mayo, her son-in-law, officiating.
Betty was born October 6, 1931 to Sam and Annie Mae (Golden) Spruill in Medicine Mound, Texas.
She married Donald Ray Seaton on September 5, 1953 in Quanah, Texas. He preceded her in death in September of 2021. They had celebrated 68 years of marriage. She got Don off to work for 45 years most days when the alarm went off at 4:00 am, and then the three kids to school at three different schools.
Betty was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wichita Falls for about 50 years.
After the first grandchild, she was lovingly known as Granny. She worked at Toys by Roy in the mall for 9 years...always getting fun toys for the grandkids.
She was a great cook, with members of the family jokingly fighting over her popcorn balls. Not long after the first son-in-law got in the family, she made a German Chocolate Cake. It was kind of suspicious when he got the piece of cake with a part off of the mixer......
Granny loved to sew and was a wonderful seamstress making all sorts of outfits including a wedding dress and dresses for the bridesmaids and a Mother's dress. She continually made her clothes along with school clothes. Granny was always altering anything for the family.
In addition to Betty being preceded in death by her husband, and her parents, she was the last sibling of eight children (three brothers and 4 sisters). She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Rector.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Carla Mayo of Bellevue and husband Tommy John, Kim Burkhart of Wichita Falls and husband Jeff, a son, Barry Seaton of Wichita Falls and wife Lisa. She is survived by 2 grandsons and 3 granddaughters, T.J. Mayo and wife Celeste, Nathan Mayo and wife Randilyn, Courtney Shinpaugh and husband Brad, Megan Walker and husband Eric, and Amy Hill and husband Jeff. Blessed with 10 great-grandchildren which include Zeke, Zeb, Claire and Zander Mayo, Connor Shinpaugh, Luke and Liam Walker, and Kinsley, Kason and Camden Hill. She is survived by a sister-in-law Lou Stephens and a special niece, Tammy Hallmark and a bunch of other nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the staff of Hospice of Wichita Falls for being so caring and patient and doing the very best for her. We appreciated the care and we know she did...
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
