Thalia Marie Coan, age 88, of Novi, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi. Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Cheryl (Tim) Bradley, Rockell Coan, Laura Browne, Larry (Amy) Coan, and Ron (Tami) Coan; her seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Dale, Michael, Teri, Robin, Luke, and Olivia; her five great-grandchildren: Jake, Lexy, Dale, Dominic, and Mila; her two brothers: Delon and Lynn Baker; and her half-sister, Helen Webb.
Thalia was born May 12, 1933, in Golden Pond, Kentucky, the daughter of Lemon and Gertie (Chambers) Baker. Thalia and Larry Coan were married on July 29, 1952, and shared fifty-four wonderful years together until Larry’s death on March 7, 2006. Thalia worked as a hairdresser from her home in the Milford area for seventy years, and spent her time taking care of her five children. In her free time, Thalia could always be found playing a round of golf or reading a book. She traveled frequently, and held fond memories from her trips to England, Hawaii, and Alaska. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Thalia was preceded in death by her parents, Lemon and Gertie; her loving husband, Larry Coan; her brother, Dewey Baker; and her sister, Reba Hammer.
In accordance with Thalia’s wishes, cremation will take place. No public services have been scheduled. Thalia will be inurned with her husband, Larry, at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens at a later date.
