Sharon Kay Creviston, of White Lake, passed away on June 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication. Born in Hazel Park, MI on October 12, 1949, to Joe and Cora Sharp, Sharon's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and her community.
After graduating from Hazel Park High School in the class of 1967, Sharon pursued her academic ambitions at Western Michigan University, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education. Her passion for education led her to a remarkable 34-year career as a Special Education Teacher. She touched the lives of countless students in Kalamazoo and Farmington Schools, retiring from Longacre Elementary. Her impact extended far beyond the classroom, as evidenced by the enduring bonds she formed with her students, their families, and friendships built with staff that became family over the years.
Outside of her profession, Sharon dedicated herself to various charitable endeavors, including volunteering with handicap horseback riding programs for children. Her love for nature and the outdoors found expression in activities like kayaking on the serene waters of the lake she lived on, birdwatching from her sunroom, taking leisurely walks at Indian Springs, and her silver sneaker classes.
Sharon's home was a sanctuary of love and faith, where she found solace in her religious readings and the uplifting melodies of religious based country music, especially on Sunday mornings. She took joy in nurturing her flower gardens, noting each and every bloom. Her heart overflowed with affection for all animals. She delighted in watching the hummingbirds flit around her feeders and the swans gracefully gliding across the lake, eagerly sharing updates with her family whenever new arrivals graced the waters.
Above all else, Sharon cherished her family, exemplifying her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her marriage to her beloved husband Gary brought her 16 years of cherished companionship and love. She found profound fulfillment in moments spent surrounded by her family, relishing occasions when they could all gather under one roof. She made it a priority to nurture her bond with her daughter Jessica (Scott) and grandchildren Hayden and Aubrey, visiting them in Virginia several times a year to remain an active presence in their lives.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Cora Sharp. She leaves behind her devoted husband Gary; her loving children Jessica (Scott) Pearson and Joanne (Drake) Brusseau; her adoring grandchildren Hayden and Aubrey; her dear sister Trish (Bob) Ducharme; and cherished nieces and nephews Tony (Iran), Bryan (Charlene), Brianna, and Tyler; great niece and nephew Brissia and Hunter. Additionally, she leaves behind countless extended family members, cousins, and those who she considered “family”.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Sharon's memory will forever shine brightly, a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit that touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family will be having a private celebration of life.
