Joan Ethel Robbins

Joan Ethel Robbins, age 89, of Melbourne, Florida, and Commerce Township, Michigan, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, in West Bloomfield. Left to cherish her memory are her two loving sons: Jeff (Linda) Robbins, and Barry (Jacquie) Robbins; her four grandchildren: Jennifer Robbins, Christina Robbins, Alex Robbins, and Claire Robbins; and her great-grandson, Jeffery Wright.

Joan was born January 27, 1934, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Walter and Eleanor (Kunde) Gabel. As a student at Oak Park High School, Joan was introduced to the love of her life, Robert Robbins. They began dating, and were eventually married in 1953; sharing fifty-seven wonderful years together until Robert’s passing in 2012. Throughout her life, Joan was a loving homemaker and took pride in caring for her family. In her free time, she could always be found working on one of her many sewing or knitting projects. She held fond memories of trips taken with her husband all around the country, to Europe, and on cruises to the Caribbean. She was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Eleanor; her loving husband, Robert Robbins; and her two sisters: Gloria Anderson, and Doris Burton.

In accordance with Joan’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Advent Lutheran Church, 7550 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida 32940. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest with her husband, Robert, at Florida Memorial Gardens.
