He is predeceased by his parents, Jack Young and Helen Young Buskirk, his sister Marilyn Kennedy Young, and his daughters Amy Lynne Young and Mary Kathleen Young.
He leaves, waiting to join him someday, his wife Kathy (Kathleen nee Bairstow), sons Josh (Megan) and John (Julie), grandchildren Allie, Abby, Christian, Harper and Alex, sister Carolyn Baldassarre and several nephews and in-laws.
Jim grew up in Monmouth and Galesburg Illinois, mostly on his uncle’s farm. He was drafted into service with the army serving as demolition specialist and helicopter door gunner in Vietnam as a corporal. Later, he met and married Kathy in 1971 and they had 4 children. They moved from Illinois to Michigan in 1983. He has worked many jobs, including carpenter, window installer, and glazier until the symptoms of his disease began. Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Chicago Bears Fan.
Funeral Services along with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Sons Funeral Home 1233 Union Lake Rd in White Lake. The family will receive family and friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. A memorial luncheon will immediately follow.
