Larry Joseph Martinez Sr.

Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, sibling and friend. He was very proud of his Navy career where he served aboard the USS Henrico. Larry retired from Dow Chemical after twenty five years of service and then started his own business, L&S Reloaders, with his wife, Gwen. Larry adored his grandchildren, his dog “Lillian,” and the Chicago Cubs. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of sixty two years, Gwen “Squeezer” Comeaux Martinez; four children, Larry Martinez Jr. (Rhonda), Julie Humphreys (Danny), Paula Smith (Jeff), and Beth Rivers (Jerry); five grandchildren, Stephen Martinez, Emily Jordan, Garrett Smith, Justin Rivers, and Meredith Smith; six great grandchildren, Kaelyn, Kolten, and Greyson Rivers, Madison Watson, Wyatt Smith and Levi Jordan; three siblings, Mary Ann Gregoire, Patsy Williams, and Connie Hebert.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Marie Leglue Martinez, and two siblings, James C. “Jimmy” Martinez and Doris Zeringue. The family would like to thank his cardiologist, Dr. Kenneth Civello, and D’Ette Stelly of Amedysis Hospice for his care.

A memorial Mass was scheduled for Larry for this coming Saturday, December 26, 2020 but due to unforeseen circumstances regarding holidays and travel, his services will be rescheduled and held privately at a later date.
